Palm Springs bases overnight capacity on bedroom count, regardless of age.
Palm Springs permits up to 2 overnight guests per bedroom, regardless of age, plus up to 2 additional children age 12 or younger. For a group larger than one home's capacity, the answer may be side-by-side homes. For example, a group of 16 guests could split into two registered groups and reserve two homes that are side-by-side.

Groups beyond one home's capacity need to split up.
A 6-bedroom home can accommodate up to 12 guests of any age plus up to 2 additional children age 12 or younger. Groups that exceed a home's applicable limit need to split up, but that is easier when the homes are right next door.
You'll still need to follow city rules and regs.
Regardless of whether you are one group or two, your entire group will still need to follow the city rules and regs.
